When do you guys meet?

Since we conduct an array of activities, it is hard to give just one date. Different events have their own schedules and members are welcome to attend as many as they’d like.

We offer activities for multiple areas of the fashion field which all run in parallell. Our activities include:

  • Sewing Sessions

  • Various Socials

sEWING

How are workshops run?

On a weekly basis every Tuesday, and headed by our Fashion Director and President Rebecca Simpson.

Beginners sessions will have set projects to teach the basics e.g sewing in a straight line, interfacing, attaching zips. The aim is to build a good skillset to design and produce your project for the fashion show.

Advanced sessions will have less instruction to allow time with and usage of the societies equipment for individual projects.

Do I have to pay extra?

Yes. A one-off fee is required on top of your membership purchase. This is to fund any sewing materials you will be using and as insurance for the sewing machines.

When/Where are sewing sessions?

Sessions will approximately run 6-8:30pm, with 6-7:15 being for beginners and 7:15-8:30 for those experienced or looking to freestyle. Location will differ depending on room availability, but announced promptly.

Socials

When are socials?

We don’t have a fixed date for socials, they will likely be every other week, but do check our social media for updates.

What type of socials do you do?

We understand that everyone has their own idea of fun, so we’ll be running plenty of sober and non-sober socials to welcome and accommodate everyone. There is never any pressure to drink, and some socials we currently have planned are: kilo sales, themed nights out, mini golf, an arcade bar, and other fun activities. We offer a welcoming and friendly environment to enjoy and meet new people.

EDITORIALS

Through collaboration with the modelling department and photography society, editorials are shot to convey a particular mood or theme. The editorial team plans everything from location to styling to models and photographers; this requires solid teamwork, time management, and executive creative vision.

How do I put forward my ideas?

Contact us through the website or directly to our Editorial Director Emily Maines-Hollingsworth.

how can i get into content creation?

Our Multimedia Director Sophie Wallace is in charge of coming up with ideas and layouts for all posts and content. New suggestions are always welcome, the content needs to fit the society’s modern and fashion forward style and represent what our society is all about. Please contact her if you have any ideas or would like to be a part of the team.
