The Snubs, The Surprises & The Style: The Best Fashion at the Oscars

The Oscars are the night for snubs, surprises, and style, so who took our breath away with their Oscar-worthy fashion?
On March 3rd, 2025, the Oscars red carpet displayed many wins, but one category that was snubbed was bright colours. Our best-dressed women on the carpet were wearing muted pinks, neutrals, and a whole lot of bows.
The award season just passed highlighted a collection of trends emulated in our own wardrobes recently, such as the revival of vintage, bow silhouettes and minimalism. Whilst colour was not a dominant winner this award season, homage to method dressing and custom couture was well represented.
It was hard to ignore the method of dressing icons that were Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo for Wicked throughout the entire season. So effortlessly, the co-stars paid incredible honour to their characters Elphaba and Glinda on the carpet by wearing the dominant colours of the characters, Green and Pink. Notably, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande both wore a plethora of Louis Vuitton and Schiaparelli the whole season therefore ending the Oscars on the same note was simply perfect.
Now not only was Mikey Madison our Best Actress Winner but she was also a red carpet favourite this award season. Mikey very much leaned into the contemporary elegant vintage scene. Old Hollywood appeal was very much a key inspiration for Jamie Mizrahi, Mikey's stylist. From designers such as Dior, Prada, and Schiaparelli, they successfully captured astounding classical silhouettes with bold accessories which quickly became a fan favourite. Mikey Madison won her first Oscar for Anora that evening, but she also won our hearts with her timeless Hollywood glamour.
Would it even be an award season and a fashion conversation without the mentioning of Colman Domingo who has continuously put the plain black suit and tie to shame. Ultimately, Colman Domingo outshines most on the carpet with his innovative, regal, and tailored fashion. Unfortunately, Domingo did not win Best Actor that evening for Sing Sing, but he most definitely can be honoured as the best dressed male actor throughout the award season.
The red-carpet moments at the Oscars are a pivotal, defying influential blend of culture, art, and celebrity therefore what the stars are wearing is actually important for the fashion industry.
